The world is made up of a mixture of introverts, extroverts, and the rest of us that fall somewhere in between.

We love adventure but appreciate our peace and quiet just as much.

We are the life of the party but need hours to mentally prepare ourselves to get there.

We are terrible at texting back but will listen to your problems for hours.

We are outgoing introverts.

We are a melting pot of depth, emotion, passion, and creativity — all embodied in a single vessel.

But, there are some things we need you to understand before we give you our time or piece of our heart.

1. WE LIVE IN OUR MINDS

The internal dialogue never ends. We overanalyze every word you say for no other reason than to try to understand who you are.

2. WE DON’T LIKE SMALL TALK

There are people that are so uncomfortable with silence that they feel the need to break it with unnecessary chatter. Don’t waste your time talking to us about the weather — We know it’s humid.  We are intrigued by what makes you, you. Tell us the things you don’t share with anyone else – what do you love? What do you hate? What are you passionate about?

3. WE HATE FIRST DATES…WHY? SEE #2.

We probably won’t accept an invitation to dinner on a first date. Why? Because that involves small talk. If you want to date us, plan something fun that involves adventure.

4. WE ARE INDIFFERENT ABOUT GOING OUT

We analyze our environment in 5 seconds flat – the vibe, the music, the people, and the setting. If we feel comfortable, then we’re the life of the party. Often times wrongly cause those we meet into believing we’re an extrovert. And when we’re not feeling it? We’ll shut down and appear to be standoffish and in our own world. Be patient with us.

5. WE CAN’T MEET ALL YOUR FRIENDS AT ONCE

We want to meet and get to know every single person that is in your life. But, because we overanalyze everything and everyone, we can’t handle too many people at once. Take your time and ease us into your circle.

6. WE NEED TIME TO RECHARGE

We are exhausted by socializing. We need our time to disappear, recharge, and get back in tune with ourselves. Don’t be offended if we don’t text you back or ask to be alone — we need our space more than you needed a reply to that text.

7. WE MOONLIGHT AS PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS

We live for figuring people out. We don’t just want to know what you’re doing, we want to know why you’re doing it. Oftentimes, we know you better than you know yourself.

8. WE WANT TO MAKE YOU FEEL WANTED

We want to know the pieces of your being. We are confident, grounded, happy, and adventurous. We are also self-conscious, reserved, quiet, and curious. If you explore us the same way we explore you, we will make you feel wanted in ways you never thought possible.

So, there you have it….

To all my outgoing introverts, can I get an amen?
