Repel Mosquitoes All Summer Long With These All Natural Remedies

Summer is right around the corner, and you know what that means! Long days filled with sunshine, picnics, baseball games, water sports, and….Mosquitoes.

Most people don’t give the pesky blood suckers much thought as they’re easily kept at bay with the use of powerful chemical repellents, sold over the counter since 1956.

But, if you don’t like smelling like a chemical plant, or are scared of the adverse effects of DEET (chemical name N,N-diethyl-meta-toluamide) in sprays, then taking Vitamin B1, Thiamin, or using the natural recipe below could be your saving grace!

Vitamin B1 (also known as thiamine) is an essential vitamin for your body, and is found in yeast, oatmeal, brown rice, asparagus, kale, liver and eggs. As one of the water-soluble vitamins, any excess that your body doesn’t use gets flushed out when you urinate, so there’s no need to worry about taking too much.

The presence of Vitamin B1 makes you smell “yeasty” to mosquitoes, and therefore makes you unappealing to bite.  It doesn’t, however, change the way you smell to other humans, so don’t worry about smelling like old bread around your friends.

If that doesn’t work, then taking an extra 100mg of thiamin every day can also repel mosquitos in folks with conditions that lower thiamine in the body such as chronic alcoholism, Crohn’s disease, anorexia and gastric bypass. Give it a shot and you should notice a decrease in mosquito bites within two weeks.

If taking B1 and thiamine don’t work for you, try this all natural mosquito repellent recipe to help you avoid having to use chemical warfare on your body as a repellent.
