7 Old Fashioned Home Remedies That Are More Effective Than Medicine

Modern day medicine has conditioned us to believe that the BEST treatments for our everyday ailments are just a short commute and quick cash register transaction away.

But, have you ever stopped to question how your great-great grandma soothed her arthritic pain 150 years ago….before pharmacy chain stores populated every street corner?

Natural remedies
We’ve all heard some pretty far-fetched natural remedies for healing (ex: tie a dirty sock around your neck to cure a sore throat) — BUT, that doesn’t mean you should let these wives tales deter you from giving the all natural time-tested remedies a shot.

Here are 7 natural remedies that really work, courtesy of your ancestors.

  1. Arthritis

Soak golden raisins in gin overnight (or until all gin is soaked up).

Eat 10 a day. The vitamins in the grapes and the anti-inflammatory effects from the gin’s juniper berries will help bring swelling down and ease your pain.

  1. Bad Breath

Bad breath can be embarrassing. Next time you feel it coming on try chewing celery or parsley rather than gum. It will immediately freshen breath and last for hours.

  1. Earache

Squeeze lemon juice onto a Q-tip or cotton ball and gently apply it to your inner ear to help restore the pH balance and neutralize icky bacteria.

  1. Hair Loss

Brew a pot of some nettle or horsetail herbal tea, both of which have high levels of silica, a chemical that can help strengthen the hair tissue you still have. Be careful not to go overboard, though, as silica can have toxic effects on your kidneys in high volumes.

  1. Calluses And Corns

Mash some Red Vines together with a little petroleum jelly to smooth out rough patches on your skin.

  1. Urinary Tract Infection

Add a tiny sprinkle of baking soda to a glass of water to make your bladder more alkaline, thus making it more difficult for uncomfortable bacteria to multiply.

  1. Indigestion

If you’re feeling bloated, try popping a few fiber-and potassium-filled apricots for dessert. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you feel relief.

Next time you’re dealing with a bout of indigestion, or need relief from a pesky earache, save yourself some cash and give the natural remedies above a try. You’ll be amazed by the results!
