Cannabis Science, a company focused on the healing power of cannabis, has introduced a groundbreaking cannabis patch that has proven to effectively treat fibromyalgia symptoms and diabetic nerve pain.
These patches relieve neurological nerve pain by releasing controlled doses of cannabis into the skin, and is eventually absorbed into the bloodstream. Experts from Cannabis Science maintain that controlled doses of cannabis cannot harm the body, nor does it cause any negative side effects.
There are two methods for patients to apply the treatment — insertion into a penetrable membrane that allows full absorption, or thin layers that melt on the skin. The thin layers are packed with powerful cannabinoid extract that effectively relieves pain once it reaches the central nervous system.
Mr. Raymond C. Dabney, CEO of Cannabis Science says that their product is just a tiny bit of the whole capacity of Cannabis Science.
“The development of these two new pharmaceutical medicinal applications are just the tip of the iceberg for what we see as the future for Cannabis Science. While we strive to increase our land capacity for growth and facilities to produce our own product to supply our scientists with proprietary materials to make these formulations, we are also busy researching more potential needs for Cannabis related medical applications and developing the methods for delivery of these medications,” explained the CEO.
It is estimated that more than 10% of all Americans are affected by fibromyalgia, with many cases going undiagnosed. Those affected are often treated with pain meds – sometimes accompanied with antidepressants to help cope with the anxiety and depression that can accompany the disease.
Neuropathic pain is a complex, chronic pain state that usually is accompanied by tissue injury. With neuropathic pain, the nerve fibers themselves may be damaged, dysfunctional, or injured. Treatments can include morphine, electronic stimulation, and acupuncture.
Given that cannabis patches have been proven to effectively treat the symptoms associated with Diabetic Nerve Pain And Fibromyalgia, there’s a strong possibility that we’ll see them used as a pain management solution for these diseases (and likely many others) in the near future!
Dabney says his company is just getting started. “As more states nationwide legislate for the legalization of cannabis and cannabis-derived medications, we here at Cannabis Science are focused on developing pharmaceutical formulations and applications to supply the huge growing demand expected over the coming few years.”
